Conversations With Canadian Authors Fiona Tinwei Lam, Jagtar Kaur Atwal and Sarah Selecky.
by Kim Davids Mandar
This episode of Bookish Radio features conversations about the anthology Love Me True published by Caitlin Press, co-edited by Fiona Tinwei Lam and Jane Silcott, with written pieces from 46 authors in poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction on the ins and outs, ups and downs of marriage. The diversity of perspectives in this rich collection renders it a fabulous go-to for a modern look at marriage. On Thursday May 3rd from 6-8pm, you can hear 12 contributors of the Love Me True Anthology reading at Ben McNally Books, 366 Bay St. Toronto.
Following Fiona’s sharing of the origins of this anthology and insights about the variety of stories contained therein, Jagtar Kaur Atwal reads part of her story, Finding My Way Out. As I engaged in editing my conversation with Jagtar, I decided to share it as a stand alone podcast here. Give it a listen, and you’ll understand why.
The episode concludes with my conversation with Sarah Selecky about her forthcoming novel Radiant Shimmering LIght. Selecky’s short story collection, This Cake is for the Party, provided the foundational characters for Radiant Shimmering Light, in which she weaves a story about art, spirituality and economics. The story examines modern western new age culture in our world of social media marketing. See details of the Canadian book launch parties, on May 8th, May 12th and May 25th here.
